I am in need of information on the Bonovich surname in general. ANY information would be helpful.

My grandfather's surname was Bonovich until he legally changed it when he was eighteen years old.
I've recently received a copy of his social security application which had his parents names listed as Elizabeth King and Nikolas Bonovich. I know nothing else.

I've also looked on the Ellis Island website for passenger records and have come across a Nikola Banovich (male) and a Niko Bamovich (although the 'm' is more than likely an unreadable 'n'). And I wonder if Nikola is Nikolas or Niko is Nikolas. These are only suspicions. Also for both individuals it stated their last residence was in Liubotigne and were of Montenegrin ethnicity.

I'm looking for something - anything. This last name doesn't seem very common. I can barely find anything online including other genealogy websites. Help!

We dont give information in general on surnames as this is not really possible. You can read articles in the learning center via the frontpage. Most likely his name would be Nikola, you can send an inquiry to the Montenegrin archives on Nikola Bonović if you have a date of birthy. Perhaps a scan of the immigration documents would help.

Regards,
Sergej
