Dear Sergej, Cekrdzin is one of the surname questions I sent to you in a private message. You asked for the Ellis Island link and this is one of them. I do not know this person but he is from the same village as all other Cekrdzins I have ever found: Padej, Serbia and Montenegro-Vojvodina! He is also going to Philadelphia where my Nenadov/Cekrdzin family lived after leaving Padej. I think this is the only Cekrdzin in the Ellis Island records - all others were found in church records, surfing the web, the book, "Padej" etc. - all from Padej with no known relationship to each other.

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup_weif_5a.asp?src ="%2Fcgi%2Dbin%2Ftif2gif%2Eexe%3FT%3DK%3A%5C%5CT715%2D0602%5C%5CT715%2D06020705%2ETIF%26S%3D%2E5&pID=102432170201&name=Splavko%26nbsp%3BCsikrdosin&doa=July++++++24%2C+1905&port=Fiume&line=0026"

If you have any trouble opening this file the exact name is:

Splavko Csikrdosin

Hvala! Judy

There is a big chance they are related to each other.
His first name they did misspell, it should be Slavko.

Did you write to the archives of Vojvodina/Novi Sad?

Regards,
Sergej

Dragi Sergej, My question is regarding the origin of the name, Cekrdzin and why I have found it only in the village of Padej, Serbia & Montenegro. I hope to find out where this name originated. Hvala, Sergej! Judy

Well Cekrdzin is most likely supposed to be spelled as: Čekrdžin - ЧÐeкрСŸин
Padej is in easter Banat-Vojvodina and I believe you can find the exact info in the Zrenjanin archives. The name comes from Montenegro originally.

Regards,
Sergej

I have multiple entries on that one so you would really have to search it through immigration records and your pedigree.

Sergej

Dear Sergej, The NENADOV family I am researching came from Padej, Serbia & Montenegro (Vojvodina) but do you have an origin for this name? Thanks for helping! Judy

Without more info it is all speculation because there are different branches of that family. You really need to track the line person by person.

Sergej

Dear Sergej, May I ask what kind of information you would need to determine where the surname NENADOV originated? Hvala! Judy

I need to know if 2-3 generations lived in 1 location in order to determine. But that is something you can do yourself as well. If you contact the archives in that region where you have your ancestors name from then you are already on your way to get precise info, in your case the archives in Novi Sad.

Sergej

Dear Sergej, I have been searching for five years and all Cekrdzins have been from Padej in Vojvodina. All others remain in Padej or once lived in Padej. I have not contacted the archives in Novi Sad about this family as I understand their records begin in the early 1900's. Please correct me if this is not the case. Hvala! Judy
