My name is Antonia Stephenson and I live in Sydney Australia. I was born in Italy of Serbian parents. As my mother's second husband was Hungarian, we spoke English at home and therefore I did not learn any Serbian (sorry).
I am interested in locating the details of my mother's family. Most of them did not migrate and remained in Belgrade, but are no longer alive. I would like to start by finding out who my great-grandfather was. My grandfather was named Dusan Putnik. He was a lawyer (advokat) and lived in Belgrade. He was born in Belgrade (I believe) around 1882 and died in Belgrade in 1956. My grandmother's name was Dobrila Panajotovic and she died in Belgrade in1945. My mother's name was Dusanka Putnik and her elder brother, Dr George Putnik was a lung specialist and professor at the Belgrade University (I only mention this, because he was quite well known in Belgrade).
I have checked various websites, such as FamilyLink etc, and they show a number of "Putnik", who migrated to the United States of America or Canada, but I know for certain that none of my family went there.
I realize that the information I am after will most likely not be available on the Internet, but if there is a Government Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages, I would be happy to request this informatioln in writing and if necessary pay a fee.
Thank you in advance.

If you are sure about the dates you should write the archives of Belgrade and ask them for information.
