Great! Anything you can tell me about it or the area .....??
Found this photo in my mother's papers and am not sure if the writing on the back is Greek or Serbian, but I do make out the name of Knejevitch (odd spelling) written on the back. THe flag as well I do not think is Greek...is it Serbian?
Thanks,
Christina
Re. Kosmajka - appears to probably have been secondary residence (summer, vineyards)? Make sense with the region at the time, no? Primary residence was near Kalemegden....
Hello Sergei,
Nothing yet from Belgrade? Forgive my impatience!
Thank you,
Christna
Hi,
No not yet, it means they are busy as well. I will follow up this week with them. What I suggest you do in the mean time is download the letter template to the archives (see learning center) and send them to the general archives in Belgrade.
Regards,
Sergej
Thnk you Sergei. I understand they are busy and do not mean to out added pressure! I know you understand this "impatience" stems from years of not knowing!
I will try again with the archives...this time with the template. Perhaps I will have better luck since they have not responded to my previous emails. Is there anything in the template I should add, or know what it says?
Thank you again,
Christina
The letter template has the translation in English attached.
Regards,
Sergej
My apologies, but I cannot seem to find the template. Where is it located please?
One question: do you feel this is hitting a dead end, from what you have seen or found out?
Thank you,
Christina
I found the letter template! Thank you.
I have sent the letter to the Serbian Archives. I do not know what this will yield, since I have tried 3 times in the past months and received no answer from them. Perhaps the fact that there is a request in Serbian will help.
It also seems the more research I do on my end, the more questions pop up. Is it normal that this is so complicated? I seem to move one step forward but then one backwards - I feel as though I am in stalemate now! I had so hoped to find living relatives to inform them of Mom's passing, but am feeling doubtful. I will be patient and await news from you and Belgrade.
You had mentined working with a Russian geneologist regarding the Orlov part of the family...I assume there is nothing on that subject yet?
Thank you for everything,
Christina
No dont worry, that is normal to have more questions. It will take some time like I told you over the phone. In the end you will be an expert on your family. The archives have the tendency not to react fast, we have members that waited for several months untill they got an answer. There are still many other options so keep the faith it will work out
I am working on the other parts and checking if I can find the Obrenovich branch you came from.
Regards,
Sergej
Thank you for the encouraging words! I am certain nothing stays hidden forever!
Christina
Hi,
Did you get the email I send last week?
Regards,
Sergej
Hi Sergei - I just took a peek and saw your message above. No I didn't - which email? The last communication we had was around March 17.
Have you any updates perhaps?
Thanks!
Christina
Hi Sergej,
Hope you're well today. I have logged into the geneology section and see the Athans tree is listed. Thank you! I don't see any other information and perhaps, I am not looking in the right place? Hope to hear from you soon!
Best,
Christina
