I need information on Rajko Stanosevic Date of birth 12 September 1909, in Brajkovac Serbia.

I would like to find dates and places of birth for his parents Dragomir Stanosevic and Danica Stanisovic(?) and if there were any other siblings. He married Borka Stanosevic in Brajkovac, October 1929. Rajko Stanosevic emigrated to Australia from Germany on 20 March 1949.

How can I find parents Dates of birth, where do I start? Are the records likely to be in the local church or elsewhere? Also need to know if he had any children.

Any further information on Rajko's background, his wife, siblings and/or his children would be useful. Thanks

You should write the Arandjelovac archives.

Hi , I do not have any specific information regarding him but I want to take your attention to some facts that you shared with us. First of all I am hopping that you can read and understand Serbian language as it is very important for your search. Secondly you said that your grand grand father Rajko is born in Serbia but immigrated from Germany in 1949. The first question that came on my mind is "why?". Serbian people were not welcomed to the Germany during and before world war 2, so how he can be end up being in Germany? Most likely explanation could be that he was "prisoner" in the war. He was brought to Germany and some how survived. At the end of the second world war he choose to emigrate to Australia instead returning back to Serbia. I know some cases where exactly same thing happened. Maybe you already know the real explanation but I only wanted to share my thoughts with you. Regards Daniela

Hi. Daniela,
Thanks for your thoughts. Unfortunately I do not read or understand Serbian.
I do not know if Rajko was living in Germany but the ship that he sailed on left a German port for Australia in 1949. I do not know the reasons why he left Serbia, I would be interested to know myself. Thanks again.

More likely explanation ( because people who were imprisoned by the nazis returned to Yugoslavia after WWII ended) is that he was a member of royalist ( chetnik) formations and was after the war in one of the displaced persons (DP) camps because he was as such unable to return to the country, where the communists would have prosecuted him. You should contact the international tracing service archive ITS and ask for his records - their assistance takes time but it is free.

Here is their website, and try to give them all details you have about this person so that they can help you:
