Hi Peter: The town I listed as Bobnarica for my grandmother Ana Bukovec might be Borovnica. I found on her Social Security Application that she listed she was born in Karlovec, Jugoslavia. My 2nd grandfather Anton (Tony) Perme listed his birthplace as Libak, Yugoslavia.
The date of death for my grandfather Frank Jamnik is 9/30/1918, Pueblo, CO. I have a copy of his death certificate. It lists Austria as place of birth. This information was given by my grandmother Ana Bukovec Jamnik. I am still attempting to locate information on their marriage. Hopefully, it will be soon. I hope this is of some help to you.
Thank you in advance,
Donna
Anna Bukovec is born is Karlovac, its in Croatia and knows a large Serbian community. Its in the Dalmatia region. Libak could be Lipa, but I cant be 100% sure on that. Were they Orthodox or Catholic of religion?
As for EllisIsland, I only use their free search. You should ask them that question.
Regards,
Sergej
Hello, Sergej: Thank you for message and info on Anna Bukovec. The Bukovec, Jamnik and Perme families were all of the Catholic (Roman) religion and the Radakovich families were of the Orthodox religion. They were members of St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Pueblo, CO.
I will check with EllisIsland on that subject.
Thank you in advance,
Donna
Hi, Peter: I visited with the Dir. of Genealogical Department at St. Mary's Church in Pueblo, while doing research on family there. I mentioned to him that you were helping locate ancestors in Solvenia. He said he would very much like to correspond with you on matters of mutual concern. Would it be possible to get your website address and/or your email address in order for him to communicate with you? He has a large library in the church school on Slovenian culture, etc. Said he would very much like to correspond with you.
Thank you in advance.
Donna
