BTW Miroslav, I dont know if you are a member of the SGS or not. I recall seeing some Jovanić in the birth records but in the 18th century not 17th. If you want I can give you access to the My Rodoslov system and you can put your tree there. That way when I am working and I see something I can review it online and perhaps add the data I find. Let me know what you think, send me a PM ;-)

Regards,
Sergej

I found that in 1692. year 500 families (5000 persons) moved from Bjelaj (Bos. Petrovac) to Kninska Krajina (Plavno, Padjene, at Zrmanja, Mokro Polje). That could be reason why you didn”™t find those surnames in this area. Many of these families were in Knin area temporarily, and after approximately 8 years moved to Lika, actually Gracac and Zrmanja. Please let me know if you have more information about this migration from 1692.

Very intersecting for me is and surname Brekić you mentioned before. Actually, I found that is Brekić and Breke from Grbić family. All these three families have patron saint St. Sergio and Vakh (Srdjevdan). Do you know when families Brekić and Breka came to Knin area?

There have been a lot of migrations in the area. Back and forth that makes it hard to to find people, besides the damaged books.

An interesting book you should read is:

Срби у Дaлmaцији, од пaдa ÐњлÐeтaчкÐe РÐeпубликÐe до ујÐeдињÐeњa

Hi I have the surname Torbica, and my parents are from Prijedor (northern part of RS), well from the countryside around Prijedor. (if u need more info just tell me)
From what I know there are several families of Torbica there (around Prijedor) and my parents in fact my father and other relatives in our Torbica-family say that we are not at all relatives with these others.

What I would like to know is if there is any knowledge of these Torbica-families around Prijedor, that maybe we are relatives or have some connection or where come from?

and about what you told us Mirog, I was wondering if u maybe know why they changed their surname from Dobrijevic to Torbica , or some more info about the families of Torbica there, from where they originally came from???

Though my mother comes from Dobrijevic-family and she and some other realtives tell me that the Dobrijevics originally came from Zeta (Montenegro) and some years ago I have heard that there is a family-crest of Dobrijevic... but I havent checked that out if its true..

sorry for this long message... hope for an answer soon.
Thank you, Mirko:-)

Hello Mirko,

Sorry for my late reply. I am looking at the books to see if there was some migration from Bosnia to Dalmatia. The most perfect thing however would be to have some reference to archived birth records. If I do see a reference to Prijedor I will surely mention it here.

Regards,
Sergej

Last name Grgić (13 houses) appear in 1915. in Lika in villages: Licko Petrovo Selo, Prijeboj, Skocaj and Zavalje. Also this name appear in Dalmatia in village Markovac. In area Drvar (village Sipovljani) exist last name Politarevic that came from Dalmacija after 1878. Their patron saint is St. Jovan. In Dalmacija their name was Grgić.

I can only tell you that I found their info in the birth records in this region. Since it only deals with a specific era I cant assertain from where this Macura family came and if there is a link with the ones from e.g. Montenegro.

I wouldn't be amazed but its all guessing untill I find something real.

Regards,
Sergej
