Sergej or Sasa, What can you tell me, if anything, about the Grba name? I've tried the Ellis Island site but can't find him. I am checking with other sources now to try and get more information.
Thank you for your time.

Be safe and happy,
Sheila

Sheila,

From what I can see the name is being used in the Serbian area's of Dalmatia and respectivly Montenegro and Zahumlije ( Herzegovina ) as well.
It's hard to pinpoint the exact origin of the name due to migrations and different branches. That is all I can say about it for now.

Take care,

Regards,
Sergej

Sergej, I have spent hours at the Ellis Island site. I "think" I may have found my step-grandfather. Nicolas Grba. If it is him he was listed under his nick name, Ilia Grba. He came here May 15th of 1912.He was 18. Pplace of residence, was Tesenice,Hungary.I also found out he served in WW1. I also "think" I found his 2 brothers and his father or uncle! Due to the feelings my 2 Aunts have, I will keep this information to my self.I'll keep you posted.
Best Wishes,
Sheila
