Hello, I am trying to find out more about the Gugleta family which is my mother's maiden name. The story so far is her father Ljuban Gugleta was born in Vrnograc (far western Bosnia). Ljubana's father Rade was also born there. Rade's father Vujo had migrated to Vrnograc from somewhere in Dalmatia. Vujo's fathers name was Miladin. Apparantly, Vujo had migrated to Vrnograc on his own (reason unknown) and there he met his wife Maria Vojnovic and acquired his wife's land and he changed his slava to Djurdjevdan. During WW2, my grandfathers family (Ljuban Gugleta and wife) had to flee Vrnograc and they settled in Vojvodina (selo Ratkovo, opstina Odjaci). The Gugleta family is still there today. My grandfathers parents remained in Vrnograc until there death in the 60s & 70s. This is all my family knows, but I am very interested to know where in Dalmatia Vujo came from (my uncle thinks somewhere near the Zrmanja river, but is not sure). Where could I research to find out more about Vujo and Miladin? We are talking about the mid 1800s. Also, does anyone know the history behind the name Gugleta? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Milos.
