my family came to export pennsylvania around the same time, the family members who came were marko kukic and latinka peric
I was told there were many family members that came also some before, some after and some around the same time
theres a big possibilty we are related, also I met someone who is a krajina serb from goricka village, his grandfathers name was stojsa kukic who came to pennsylvania as well in 1913 (after my family)
I have consulted an expert on old slavonic, in serbia about the origin of the kukic name, he said it means crooked or bent nose meaning the first kukic had this trait, my family has straight noses
its said the kukic family originates in bileca , trebinje , in east herzegovina
it is highly unlikely that other families were named after such a personalized trait, I think all kukic's are related and came from the original kukic family

kuks I could not translate your post, when I figure it out I'll respond
do you know how to look up records for this mckee's port as I would like to see if maybe thats where my family came into america as well
I have the 14 day free trial for ancestry.com I'll take a look and see if I find anything on marko kukic for you. I found the mcKeesport record from the passenger lists when he came over. I also know he was going to stay with his brother-in-law but I can not make out the name, it's really scribbled. I'm assuming the brother-in-law is his sister's husband because he was not married until after he came to the US. He moved at some point between 1905 and 1920 to east side of Chicago, which is where all his children were born and most resided. And where most of his descendants, including myself, live. Oh also Eli's father's name was Michael I believe.
About the crooked nose, some of my family does actually do have very large/crooked noses. So it's very interested to find out that Kukic actually comes from Kuka. Also, my grandfather had a scar on his face, my father told me it was a burn from a boiler, but I'm not really sure.
the guy on all experts I talked to said it came from kuka, he said there's no other possible meaning in old slavonic
he's also who I heard that Kukic family originates from bileca
I know one Kukić (Cookich) family in village Čerević, near NOVI SAD.
That family was a bit strange. They are only family in that area that breed horses.
Maybe you are related. Maybe...
I think this may be out of left field. But there was a very popular Serb musician here in the US named Danny Kukic. I THINK he was from Chicago - not sure about that.
