I am desperately searching both the Lazarov and Avramov family names. I have been told my relatives were from Serbia. Not sure if this is true or not but any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you kindly for your help! My great grandfather was Sava Lazarov, his Birth was 10/06/1887 and I have his father listed as Zivka Lazarov and mother as Mille Badak. And I HOPE these are correct.

My great grandmother was Zorka Avramov and her birth was 10/14/1898 and she had a brother listed as Milan Avramov. I have her mother to be Marea (spelling?) Mihajlov.

I hope that you can help me! Thank you VERY much! Erin

Do not you know a city or village. Lazarov Avramov may also be Bulgarians.

No they may not be - these surnames have nothing to do with being Bulgarian based on morphology or any evidence of migrations from Bulgaria in the locations where these two surnames were first documented among Serbs: These are typical ethnic Serbian surnames that in this area were formed as such ( with the ending - OV) due to Military Frontier authorities being keen on stumping out typically Slavic surnames, with even a legislation in 1814. that officially forbid the ending suffix -IĆ from being used. So the original surnames got shortened, truncated and changed.
