Armin Hirsl (my grandfather) was born in Oravica, Slovaquia on October 17, 1882. He married Tereza Messer, born in Backa Palanka, Serbia, on April 27, 1893. They had 2 sons: Otto, born in Pancevo, Serbia on September 1, 1912 and Pavlo (born in Pancevo).

Otto graduated as an engineer in Zagreb, worked at the Phillps company both in Zagreb and Beograd, married Ella Pollak and succeeded to escape from World War II in 1941. They arrived to Argentina where I was born in 1949.

That's all I know. My father died in 1997 in Buenos Aires and my mother is still alive (95 years old). I need help (or hire services) to find posible Armin and Tereza brothers and sisters and siblings and certify that Pavlo died in the Holocaust or not.

Regards,

Jorge Hirst

Jorge,

Pancevo has online archives you can contact, see the link page.
All the information you are looking for is availible at the respective archives in Serbia. It also wouldn't hurt to check out the Jasenovac archives.

I already send you an email.

Regards,
Sergej

Sergej,
What is the formal procedure to ask for birth records in Pancevo? Can they tell me if my grandparents registered there my father's siblings?
I have already checked Jasenovac concentration camp files: Armin, my uncle Pavlo and my father Otto appear there. As my father succeeded to escape to Argentina, I wonder if the rest of the family did too.
Regards,
Jorge Hirst

Jorge,

You send them a letter requesting the data (you need specific data). They should be able to tell about sibblings.
It is still unclear for some families to find out who is alive and who is not, especially as we had another war in the Balkans. Some people changed their names in order to escape persecution.

Regards,
Sergej
