Hello!
I am tracing the steps of my grandfather, a Czech who fought at the Serbian front on the Austro-Hungarian army during Word War I. According to a register that I found at the Military Archives in Vienna, he died in March 1914 at the Red Cross facilities in Pirot (Serbia), after being taken prisoner during the Battle of Lajkovac. As I do not speak Serbian, I am looking for support concerning research of any documents that could still be available in Serbia concerning my grandfather. This means contacting the Serbian Red Cross, or other institutions, Military archives. Any advice is welcome!
I am Silvia Riil and I was born in Bečej in the region of Vojvodina, former Yugoslavia, now Serbija.
Hello, I am looking for my great grandparents Johann and Katharina Strischek from Palanka Backa which is now located in Serbia. How would I go about finding out info about them?
Hello, our family is searching for the Buric/Bourich family of our great-grandmother Vidosava Buric, born about 1885 in Cetinje, Montenegro. She came to the United States in 1907 and was said to have married a Serbian man named Perunovich who had immigrated to Minnesota. The marriage did not last long before she fled to Arizona and the Yugoslav community of Globe, Arizona. We have no record of her parents' names or other family members. Thank you!
Hi folks, I'm trying to trace my Yugoslavian ancestry, but don't really know where to start....hoping to get some advice here. My grandfather Hans Klemm was born, I think in Sombor, in March 1897 and may have been of Jewish descent?? His parents were Jakob and Barbara (don't have actual place of birth for parents). Jakob was employed as a railway tapper - not sure what that is? My grandfather was married to Frida/Frederika Schmidt (Zandegiacomo) who was born in 1900, in I think, Trieste/Padua area? Hans and Frida had two sons Reinhold and Alfred (my father). Reinhold was born on 24/12/24 and my father on 21/3/29,. At the time of Reinholds birth my grandparents were living at 4 Primorski Street, Novi-Sad - my father was also born in Novi-Sad. Hans and Frida divorced/separated when both boys were still young. Reinhold remained with his father, whilst Alfred stayed with his mother. Think they may have latterly moved to Belgrade as both boys attended seperate boarding schools here. I believe Hans was a either a furniture or timber merchant. At some point Hans and boys left Yugoslavia in mid 1940's - unsure of reasons for leaving as I don't really know any thing about countries history during this time. Hans lived in Salzburg before crossing border and settling in Frielassing, Germany , Reinhold also settled in Germany (Hamburg) after spending time in America and Ireland, whilst my father (Alfred) moved to Scotland, UK. Frida remained in Yugoslavia and may have settled in Pula. I would be so grateful if someone could offer me some advice on how to search records..
In the former town off Savino Selo (than called TORZSA) I have an interest to find out about the following persons:
Philip/Filip/Fulap Burman born approx 1864
his wife
Katarina/Katharna (maiden name Junker) born approx 1862
Their son
Fredrick/Friedrich Burman born approx 1889
his wife
Margaret/Margit (maiden name Gilbert) born approx 1891
Can you find their birth certificates or old address before they emigrated to America between 1907-1912. Are their any old relatives to the family left (Either Burman, Junker or Gilbert)?
Is it possible to find out how these people relate to each other familywise? Are they all relatives?
