Hi am I in luck, what a wonderful sight!!! just found heraldry pics for Lapova where my father and his parents came from...I was in Serbia 3yrs ago..went to the church the priests were of great help and just lovely how- ever much of the earlier parish records were destroyed during the ww11.. I was given a book "Lapovo" written 1991..but all in chrillic...any way I seem to be the only one interested in family research in that side of the family...fathers name Dimitrije Zivkovic his father Vojislav Zivkovic born 13feb1879 Lapova,Vojins father Dimitrje .
Vojislav's wife my Grand mother Stevan Ristic born 1oct 1882. her parents Jovan Ristic & Zveda..her mother died giving birth to twins..I have cousins but dont know where some Ristic cousins live in France..I would like to Know some of the Zivkovic History, my nephew tells me of a story that I do not know if it is factual but it goes that the Zivkovic family at one time came from Russia area, were working for the royal families there .They the Zivkovics' were supposedly sort of Nobles also. However in the dead of night they fled the russian Court.and were land owners in serbia..I do not know where to get this data..
As a child my father told me fantasy stories of (not spelt right )kralovic marko on his white horse that could fly..I loved it. we my parents came to Australia in 1952.
my dad was aprisnor of war in germany and my mother a displaced person having been born in Danzig, and they met in Lubeck where I was born...
thanks for letting me ramble on. Oh some years ago I met the former King Peter In geelong where I live.
regards marion

Hello Marion,

Well Zivkovic is not a uncommon surname in Serbia. You mentioned checking with the parish records, did you also check with the national archives? What is the title of the book you have on Lapovo? I dont know if you speak/read any Serbian?

Regards,
Sergej
