My family's from Vrginmost district, Croatia. I've had no luck getting information from the courthouse in Karlovac. When I gave them my family names and they realized I was Serb the price went up five times more and they stopped responding. And even so, they said the records only go back to around 1890.

I was wondering, since historically our people were border guards for the Austrian crown if there might be military records about them in Austria. Has anybody ever investigated this idea?

Also, I've found narratives about the Sjenicak Revolt, which it looks like some of my people were involved in. I wrote a fictionalized account of it I'd be happy to share if anyone's interested.
