I am seaching for information on my grandparents, Maksim and Eva (Zvonarevic) Bartos who lived in Sremska Mitrovica. Max was born in Sremska Mitrovica on July 18, 1869 and Eva on December 27, 1877. They married in 1896. Maksim initially immigrated to the United States in 1902 and his wife, Eva, and their children, Joseph (my father), Michael, & Aldabert following in 1905.

The imformation that I have on Maksim is his parent's names are John & Barbara (Baka) Bartos (I am not sure about the name Baka). Apparently, John died before 1876 because my grandfather, Maksim, had a half-brother, Anton Seberle, who also immigrated. Maksim's obituary in 1942 mentioned a brother, Ivan, and three sisters, Barbara Walter & Catherine Walter who immigrated and Mary Mikulich who remained in her home land(all are believed to be married names).

Eva's mother, Juliana Zvonarevic immigrated in 1921 along with one of her daughters, Mila Jung (married name & widowed). Another daughter, Agnesa Frank and her husband, Franio, immigrated in 1912. There were two other daughters, Helena Tot & Elcha Tot who remained in Sremska Mitrovica.

I would appreciate any information on my ancesty, either specific or on how I can further my search.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hello Robert,

BTW I am suspecting Bartos to be a Donauschwaben name of some kind. Hope the translation helped you out a bit.

The surname Zvonar is from Herez Novi, Montenegro. I am looking to see if there is a link.
