Dear members,
We would like your help, finding our family's roots. We come from Greece but as you might have noticed, from the surname (ΟΒΡΕÎΟΒΙΤΣ- ΟVRENOVITS), ignore the spelling since the Greek authorities write the surnames the greek-lish way, our roots are Serbian. We know that our grand-grandfather, named Jovan Ovrenovits?, Obrenovich? and came from Serbia to Greece in 1905. We know that he was born around 1875 (1870 - 1880) and nothing else. He married a Greek lady (out gran-grandmother)and had 7 children with her. Unfortunately he died in 1927 and all of his
children were very young, and that's why there is no knowledge about his history, family (father's, mother's name , if he had brothers and sisters, which was his birth town etc) . On the other hand our gran-grandmothers was always very secretive about her husband's past, telling her children and grandchildren nothing about his previous life. We haven't found any kind of documents and the only thing that we have is our gran-grandfather’s photos and some histories of our grandfathers about their father. We would really like to find our roots but we don't know the way. Any kind of help from you it would mean a lot. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely
ΜΑΡΙΑ ΟΒΡΕÎΟΒΙΤΣ

Maria,
You should talk with Christina in the other thread to see if you are related.
Regards,
Sergej
Yes indeed! Thanks Sergej!
Hello Maria,
I'm Christina and this may be an interesting coincidence. My mother was Obrenovic; Dorothea Catherine Obrenovic-Knezevic and I invite you, in the interest of time, to go to the read with the same names. There you will be able to gain a sense of my search for family named Obrenovic.
Look forward to hearing from you and your thoughts.
Christina
I talked to Danica and her husband used to be in class with a Obrenovic. So I will email her some info and she said she would get back to me asap. The Obrenovic family still lives in Belgrade so now we need to see which line they are and you.
Regards,
Sergej
Thank you
I will also try, one more time, to find anything more from my living relatives.
Maria
Hi Maria,
I left Sergj a message in my fmaily thread - the photo you translated - and do please feel free to go there to check my post - we identified the signature and gentleman in the photo: George Sratos, Greek Minister of Defence (War). Was there any connection on acquaintance on your side?
Was your grandfather from Belgrade?
Best,
Christina
Hi,
You should email Danica at danica@rodoslovlje.com , she is one of our board members and knows the Obrenovic family in Serbia and she can help you out. Let me know if she replies as she is having internet connection problems.
Regards,
Sergej
