Hello -
Searching for information for my great grandfather Petar Ostoic, his parents Steve Ostoic and Jelena Iuinch? He was born about 1887, so they must have been born around 1865. I'm not exactly sure which area they came from.
Also searching for Petar's wife, my great grandmother's family, Eva Kokier (b. 1889), and her parents Djorge and Sophia Kokier, and her brother Wasso Kokier. I believe they came from Sridce.
Petar Ostoic and Eva Kokier emigrated to the US, I think separately, around 1910.
Any info on them, the family names, or suggestions on how to find more info, would be most appreciated!

Hello Frances,
Did you check with Ellis Island for any immigration papers?
Most likely the surname Ostoic would be properly spelled as: Ostojić
The Kokier surname is a Serbian surname from the Vojvodina and Panonia region (Croatia today) and they can predominatly found in the village of Javorovcu near Đurđevac.
Please let me know if you checked with Ellis Island or if you need help with it.
Regards,
Sergej
Hi frances,
My grandma's (Milka) maiden name is Ostojic. She was born in Glinica, Bosnia, to parents Rade and Sava.
Hi Milicamio,
My grandmother's name was also Milka Ostojic! Perhaps you have a family tree somewhere to see if our people are related? Her father was Petar Ostojic (b. 1886), and his parents were Steve Ostojic (b. 1861) (I don't know what Steve would have been translated as) and Helena Sjeverovich (b. 1853). Steve Ostojic's father was Alexander Ostojic (b. about 1840). Peter had one brother Nikola Ostojic (b. 1881). In one place they spelled there name Kostojic. Nikola wrote that he was from Sokolovac in one place and other places say Ribnjak. It would be really amazing if on the off chance our family trees could connect. I have a met a deadend with the Osojic and Kokier sides of my family. Thanks for writing!
Steve would be Stefan, and Alexander would be Aleksandar.
Regards,
Sergej
