Pavlović originates from Montenegro, Donja Zeta. First mentioned in the 15th century. Also family in Kotor and the area.

Hello Leo,

You need to find out from where you father and mother came, and their dates of birth. Then you can start your research.

As for learning Serbo-Croation I suggest you use the link on our site for SpeakSerbian.

Pavlovic is still a common name in Serbia so I guess you still have a lot of family there.

Let me know if you need more.

Regards,
Sergej

The Pavlovic surname is of Serbian and Serbian Montenegrin origin and qiute a few Pavlovices live in Central and southern Serbia (moved there during the Great Migration in the 18th century). It's funny, but my attorneys are Pavlovices from that area. There are a few different branches of the family though, so we would need some more information.
As for Kragujevac specifically, there are a few hundred listings for PAVLOVIC' in Kragujevac in the phone book so any more specific info would be helpful in narrowing down the search! That's looking at the city of Kragujevac alone. There are some 200 villages in the vicinity that are under the jurisdiction of the city and municipality of Kragujevac.
A person's specific name, last known address or even the mention of a village or neighbourhood would help!
Good luck-
Danica

Dear Leo and Danica,
First for Leo:
My grandmother from mail site was Pavlovich, I have some blood relatives in Belgrade.
To Danica:
Those Pavlovic that I ask about live no more in Kragujevac.
My grandmother have a father and two brothers, older brother was killed in action as Serbian major at the beginning of World War II.
Her father who's father come somewhere from Dalmatians/Montenegro ( Adriatic se)
come with a title Count. Granny's father and her younger brother was shoot by Germans in Kragujevac in the well known shooting of all man as revenge. They hade estate where old briery was! Now after the communist that's gone!
I have already all of documents which prove my genealogical connection with Counts Or Knez Pavlovich. I do not know only one, is it in such cases title and arms transmissible to my father?
Any ideas?
