Hello,
I'm new to this site and I think it's incredible! I've been interested in finding our more about my family for years. I don't know much as I'm not sure where to look once I get to looking for information in Serbia and Belgrade.
My dad's family came to America from Yugoslavia in the late 1890's. My dad's dad came from Ptrovo Selo, and his mom came from Belgrade.
My grandfather's last name has been changed a bit from what I've been told. Variations are Plavsity (which we use) Plavsitz and Plavsich. I know my grandfather and several family members went to America but left a sister Lydia Plavsich there with her husband.
Any information on where to look next would be helpful. I appreciate it.
Kind regards,
Shelby
Hi,
Can you please provide any other information you have - birth year, year of emigrating, names of any siblings that also emigrated. If you know family patron saint (slava) that would be of help as well. Were your ancestors members of Serbian Orthodox Church after emigrating; If yes, you need to hunt down the original records and scan them - often the crucial information about the household number of origin is listed even in the marriage records of the children of the emigrants, under the parents of the bride or groom information.
What was name of g.father and his brothers ?
