Hi Arlene!

Happy to see you here :-)
You and me are from the same "clan" i.e. your grand father from mother's side and my grand father were the brothers. Your mom and uncle know all that.
If you have Skype account add me to your contact list, so we can talk :-)

Tomo Pokrajac.

Hi There!

Nice to talk to you! My mom mentioned having family in the US through her older brother Christopher (would be my uncle) as well, unless we are going back another generation. My grandfather's name is Rade who was killed during the 2nd world war. Apparently, her brother Christopher was also killed during the conflict in the early 1990's. Such a sad story, he was an old man and was apparently drowned in the river by his home. Mom tells me many sad things about her childhood overseas and losing her parents and several siblings at such a young age, I couldn't even image living through what she did. No doubt she is grateful to live here for the past 42 years and live a comfortable life now. Life on this side of the pond has also had it's challenges, but for the most part we are free of conflict and live in peace.

I don't have Skype, but I showed my mom the conversations on this site to read (she's just not into computers at her age - 71). I know she'd love to talk to you, she's just not sure how to reach her extended family and learn more about them. To date most of the info she has learned has been through my uncle Nick in Oakville, but she hasn't had any direct contact.

I do genealogy and have used a wonderful program which is web friendly and will generate charts and store photos, videos and web links. The program I bought through the mormons was only 7 dollars, it's called PAF 5 (personal ancestral file). I've done as much as I know through my father's side in the program and now want to complete my mother's side. Not sure if you speak the native language (me only English) but my mom speaks both languages fluently if you need help with any translation. I saw someone looking for help on this forum and she would be able to help in this regard.

In case you are wondering why I am writing so late, just having a hard time sleeping, back to bed after a cup of tea. Thanks for contacting and hope to hear from you again very soon. Arlene

Arlene,

I know all that, I told you we are from the same clan. I used to live next door your uncle until mid 1980's.
Skype is completely free program, to download it, install and open account takes less than 5 minutes. If you put me on your contact list, then we can have (video) call completely free of charge. I am using it for years now. If you have high speed internet, it is completely free of charge. Only if you call the phone number you have to pay, but computer to computer is free.

I would really like to talk to (and see) my "teta Danica" :-)

Tomo

Hi Tomo:

My mom is still a traditionalist, doesn't understand technology. My email is [email protected], she wouldn't mind calling you. She's neither rich nor poor and can easily afford the phone call. She says she is a bit intimidated because you are so smart with your background and we aren't all that sophisticated up here. Regardless I know she is still quite excited at the prospect. She is also looking for Christopher's (her brother's) either son or grandson who is stateside someplace, maybe you have some knowledge? Thanks for replying and looking forward to talking soon. Arlene

Hey Arlene, how's it going fellow Pokrajac!! I see you've been talking to cousin Tomo. Nice to see you on here. I'm from the Pokrajac clan from Razvodje, Croatia (Dalmatia). I would love to see any of the Pokrajac info you got from the Mormon database concerning our family. My dad is related to Bogolub Pokrajac that lives in Toronto. Tomo knows him...he is an excellent mechanic. Feel free to email me any info at [email protected]. I have spoken with Tomo on Skype...it is a nice software package for talking with folks in Europe and in America. Was your grandfather one of the Pokrajac's that was killed in Jasanovec?
