-Serbs from West Slavonia, Croatia/Srbi iz Zapadne Slavonije, Hrvatska

I am researching Bastasic (Bastašiæ)and Grba familes from former Yugoslavia, mainly from West Slavonia, Grubisno Polje, Veliki and Mali Zdenci,Orlovac, Donja Kovacica, Velika Pisanica,Velika Peratovica, Bedenik,Velika and Mala Barna,Rasenica,Gakovo,Djakovac and Veliki Grdjevac.
Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.

The surnames you mention originate from the region of MOntenegro, Zahumlije and partially Kosovo. The Grba family originates from Gorica, Maoce, Lecena and Markovac. Most likely they moved westward and northward due to the Ottoman incursions.

I agree, but after end of 15 century, we can find the strong traces of their presence in this region.

Yes that is what I ment. They originate from the above mentioned places and moved westward into Croatia and Slavonia which werent under Ottoman occupation.

Anyways, you might want to try to contact the archives in Montenegro. There are some antropological works that contain information as well.
If family resided in Krajina you might want to take a peek in the Austrian archives as well.

If you live in Belgrade you can go to the Arhives at Karnegijeva 2. They can direct you in your searches.

My Step-Grandfather was Nikola Grba who came to the US in abt.1910. He was born abt 1896. That is all I know at this point.

Da li neko zna kako pronaći podatke o Srbima koji su živeli na prostoru Zapadne Slavonije?
Moje prezime je Milanković i svi moji preci (prezimena su: Vukičević, Pejić ili Peić i Kovačević) su živeli na prostoru Zapadne Slavonije u reonu Okučana u selima Donji Rajić (ili samo Rajić), Vrbovljani, Dubovac i Greč‘ani.
Interesujeme da li je moguće da negde postoje neki pisani i drugi tragovi o ovom kraju kao što su knjige, monografije, zatim popisi stanovništva (navodno postoje neki popisi iz vremena Austro-Ugarske carevine), crkvene knjige (roč‘enih i umrlih), online izvori, adrese ustanova ili organizacija...
Možda je neko nešto saznao do sada o ovim pitanjima, svaka informacija je dobrodošla.

Hi Sheila,
Do you have Passenger list of your Step-Grandfather Nikola Grba who came to the US in abt.1910 or mazbe Naturalization papers or Imigration record.
I`d like to see his place of origin, Lika or Slavonia. Zoy speak serbian?
