On a 1920 Census, my great grandparents were listed as from Serbia.
I don't have much information on them. Great grandmother's maiden name was Kieffer. She was called Lena (or Lina). Other names could have been Carline or Caroline, and Elizabeth. She was born around 1860. My great grandfather was Hungarian, Shandor (not sure of spelling) was his last name, first name John. He was born around 1858. He had been married previously and had at least one child from his marriage, a daughter named Rose. Rose was born before 1892. They possibly immigrated to the United States @ 1892. If anyone could give me any help in this matter it would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I just split the thread, please start your own topic or it will be deleted!
Do you have a place of birth? Did you check with Ellis Island and what information do they provide? Kieffer is a German name so most likely they are DonauSchwaben.

Sergej

Also good idea would be to contact German Council in Subotica, Serbia.
It is the national coucil of DonauSchwaben still living in Serbia, province of Vojvodina.
They should have something usefull.
Good luck Judith
