I AM TRYING TO CREATE SOME HISTORY FOR MY MOTHER WHO KNOWS VERY LITTLE OF HER FAMILY. HER GRANDPARENTS WERE IMMIGRANTS FROM SERBIA AND ENTERED THE USA IN 1903.THEY WERE SHOWN IN THE 1910 CENSUS AS JOHN AND JENNIE ENICH. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY INFO PRIOR TO 1910 TRACING THEM BACK TO THEIR ROOTS. NAME CHANGE??. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Do you have a date of birth of the GP's, otherwise its really hard to find anything. Also, any cards or family saints, anything that reminds of the old country.

Sergej

Ok, please read the FAQ first and post as much info as you can spare next time. It saves time ;-)

Yes parts of the former-Yugoslavia region were part of Austria during those times. The surname Enić is not a common one and can be found in the Banat and Slavonia region. However, his immigration record from e.g. Ellis Island should list a place not just a country. Any other information that you have would be helpful because without I can only give you general directions.

Any known relatives that came along, perhaps their records provide more info.

Regards,
Sergej
