Hello,
I am looking for Johann und Ignaz KAISERGRUBER. Perhaps, they were brothers ? They were officiers in the k.k. Armee. They should be born between 1760-1770 in Austria (Wien or surrounding area ?). Ignaz died in Peterwardein on 14th March 1826. He was Oberstlieutenant and District Commandant for garnison Artillerie in Peterwardein. In 1812 he was ennobled for having served 44 years in the army and received the predicate "von Steilenburg". He was Major in Esseg. Now, I would like to find a copy of his death certificate or a picture if his grave in the cimetery (if it exists of course), place and date of birth, the name of her parents, if they were married. Ignaz should have 5 children, including Lorenz (Oberfeuerwerker von 2 k.k. Feld-Artillerie Regiment).
Johann was Unterlieutenant Infanterie, he emigrated to Belgium before 1805 and married Maria Josepha Francesca TUIJTTENS, but I did not found the marriage in Belgium. He died in Belgium in 1809. When and where he was born ?
It also exists Georg (in 1813 k.u.k. 31 Linien Infanterie), und Michael (in 1801, 28 infanterie Regiment). They were brothers or children of Ignaz ???
I wrote to museum in Peterwardein and to NoviSad, but I did not receive any answer.
In summary, all what you can find about this family will be welcome and I thank you very much for your help and for any answer positive or negative.
Sorry for the mistakes, I speak french.
Marie-Paule Kaisergruber
Please read the FAQ and research section. Because you are not a Serbian national you will need permission. Also, having a researcher on the ground would be better. You can also try contacting the Donauschwaben community in Serbia.
Regards,
Sergej
Records for Roman Catholics from Novi Sad parishes are available online via Kalocsa diocese e-archive and cover the period 1763- 1922. In these records you will for many individuals find their parish of birth or origin listed - which is especially important if you are looking for where the colonists or military servicemen came from.
You will find information on this e-archive posted on our Vojvodina forum as well as on the Donauschwaben Villages mailing list here :

It is far too great effort for me to look into this in terms of time needed for you do do just a random look up - there are thousands of images of original records to go through to establish if these individuals or their family members appear in the records available for the period you indicated - so I suggest you either register for the service of thi e-archive and explore it in detail, or register as a paid member for Rodoslovlje - I can only dedicate that much volunteer time to work on behalf of people who help us keep the society going.
Other than that, there is a substantial collection of military records available in the ARHIV VOJVODINE located in Novi Sad, and they hold documents such as official charters awarded to families upon being given the military nobility status.
Worth looking into is also the military archive in Belgrade because many records confiscated from K und K military after WWI are still there.
