We can only give you general information on when KAĆ was settled and where the vital records are located now. To learn when an individual family settled there, which land they owned and what was their material stauts ( did they own it or rent it, is it still in the family posession) you need to research land ownership register - and to do that you need to research vital records first.

KAĆ was part of the ŠAJKAŠ  ( ШАЈКАШ ) region:

"Today Šajkaška is the part of BAčka from the place where the Tisa river flows into the Danube all the way to the KAĆ, and next to Tisa river to Čurug, and *inwards* towars villages Nadalj and Gospođinci.

When ŠAJKAŠKA was formed, the rivers Tisa and Danube were not where they are today, and some of the villages, that are today on dry land, were back then on the river banks and small creeks.
 

ŠAJKAŠKA was named after special branch of soldiers called ŠAJKAŠI. They were a specific order of Austrian military, who moved in long boats called ŠAJKA. These military units operated on Danube, Tisa and Moriš.

The ŠAJKAŠ REGIMENT, formed as part of the MILITARY FRONTIER region in 1763.

The current Serbian Orthodox temple in KAĆ was built in 1840. and vital records and cemetery is from the same period.

It would take a detailed look up to establish where and if there are earlier population censuses and military lists, and we can only do that for the members of the SGS RODOSLOVJE.

The vital records will be in posession of the Serbian Orthodox Church - central eparchy - the originals

and the state regional archive - ARHIV NOVI SAD - copies on microfilms. Sometimes these are available in local municipal offices on CD s too.

EDIT: Sergej , I looked at and translated already  the original certificate of citizenship for this person - it was for MARKO ORDINAČEV, born in 1879. in KAĆ ( svedodžba o državljanstvu Kraljevine Jugoslavije, izdata nakon zakona o državljanstvu iz 1928.)

Hi! Thank You Very Much for all the information you sent. The pictures are beautiful! Unfortunately, I do not know how to read the Serbian Language, and did not see an option for English. As for any detailed information on the families, I did join SOG. I assume this is the board you mentioned the locals use. If not, could you give me information on how to find it? Any links to detailed information would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Again for your help!!!! Any one in America you would like me to try to find?

It takes a lot of time, emails and telephoning to get information  through and from people locally in Serbian - the profile of this board is primarily geared towards  an English-speaking audience, and that is only a tiny fraction of people who post genealogical queries and information about their Serbian ancestry .  You may get lucky, but in most cases, to get a reply, you will have to send out and communicate in local language.

What I mean by posting queries for the subscribed members of SGS "locally" is a variety of things - I call the parish priest, I contact authors and researchers  who have published books on genealogy or history of a specific village, I post messages in Serbian on local web portals, I contact local newspaper and media outlets, I  message people on facebook, I contact people who left their contact details on genealogical forums in Serbian only...it takes months  sometimes to get a reply from the descendants of the same family, or someone who knows how they can be contacted... word of a mouth is still the most valuable communication channel, and most of the time I am merely trying to find someone who is tapped into it who will email or phone  me back

Currently we are working on raising the profile of SGS Rodoslovlje in Serbian language  - the plan is to start posting on largests blogs and blog platforms in Serbian series of specific articles on interesting member searches - that way our reach locally  will increase significantly, but unfortunatelly, that will also mean that we will have to spend time preparing , writing and hosting these blogs and not be able to participate on international boards or here on SGS forum.

ORDINAČEV is a fairly distinctive surname. Lets hope that a descendant of the same family will see your post here and contact you  - on our part, you  send us a hoto of your Ordinačev ancestor and  I will include your *looking for relatives and information* on our facebook page where I post them in both English and Serbian language. People like old photographs.
