Our family originates from the Romanian Banat primarily from the villages of Saravala on my paternal grandfathers side and San Petru Mare on my paternal grandmothers side who was a Marich. On my maternal side I am related to the Jovanovic's and Chocich's of Saravala as well. Any assitance in locating civil or church records or any other information would be appriciated.
You should check with a Romanian society in Romania, you are now posting and we can only assist you with Vojvodina.
Regards,
Sergej
I posted on our facebook about some of the resources for researching Serbs from Romania - try to look up the older posts, it should be there :

Also, church vital records are available for some of the communities in the archives in Serbia too. For Romania contact the Serbian minority council for help. ( warning, no one speaks or will email you back in English from there though) .
Since many children from the community were cadets of Serbian Trade Association Privrednik, and many local Serbs who owned shops were empoyers of its cadets too, use the Privrednik database to try and find more information :

( use the Serbian spelling of the surnames you are researching, and for location try place names in Serbian, Romanian and Hungarian language)
