Hello my name is Justin Pyevach.
I'm currently trying to locate some relatives that possibly live in Serbia.
My great grandfather Mile Pjevac came to Canada in 1929, and then brought his wife Janja and children to Canada in 1930.
They village which they came from was ĐŒitluk near Gospic. My great grandfather Mile traveled back to Yugoslavia somewhere between 1975-76, and gave his sister some land he had.
I realize most Serbs in that area left Croatia during the nineties. I've talked to a few Pjevac's in Croatia. They told me most people from that area most likely live in the province of Vojvodina, Serbia.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, Justin
Justin,
Yes a lot of people from that region moved to Vojvodina. You should check with the District Archives and Phonebooks of the main municipalities to see if you can find people with the same surname. Also check the FAQ and articles on the website on how to proceed.
