Hello, some time ago I posted information about my Great Grandfather. I received a tremendous amount of help which I am extremely appreciative of. I am hoping once again that I can ask for help. My Great Grandfather is Vaso Popovic. Information I have is not very helpful I'm afraid but what I do know is: he signed a picture as B.V. Popovich, one picture has a date of August 15, 1925 ( I think this is his birthday but birth year could be anywhere between 1890 and 1899), he came from Yugoslavia but it is suggested that he was an ethnic Serb living in Croatia. I estimate he came to the U.S. between 1910 and 1924 depending on when he was born and due to his required military service. I have a couple of records that could be his but I need help figuring this out.
I have a Canadian passenger list from November 16, 1923 and a ship manifest from 1924 from Raguse/Dubrovnik with all male passengers that appear to be leaving after their military service is complete. Their destination was New York. I can provide actual pictures of these documents but I don't see a place to attach pictures here. I do have more information that might be helpful but I don't want to make this post longer than it already is. Please let me know if you can help. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

My biological Great Grandfather went by Vaso Popovic. I have a letter and several pictures where he signed as B.V. Popovich. I know the H was added after he came to the U.S. I know he worked in places like the open pit mines in the state of Minnesota and as a maintenance man at a hotel in the state of Wisconsin. He would have met my Great Grandmother while working at that hotel between 1924 and 1925. Her name was Louise and she was born in 1906. I was told he was seven years older than her which would put his birth year in 1899. Since I have started my search, I have learned that people didn't always record information like birth dates accurately. I have been looking for any records for someone that could have been born on August 15, between 1890 and 1899. I have also been told that the surname Popovic is a Serbian name that comes from Croatia and that he was likely an ethnic Serb that lived there. My Grandfather was born in 1926 when Vaso offered marriage but it didn't work out. He wrote to Louise from New York in 1927 telling her he found work on a steamship and was returning to Europe.
I was told his mother was German and Father was Yugoslavian and that they had a business before WWI. He told Louise he wanted to be a Doctor but the war changed that. I have learned that his mother was not likely German but there was a very small possibility that it could be true. It wasn't likely that they had a business either but I don't remember why. I have found a couple of passenger manifests, one was a ship full of guys leaving Raguse in I think 1923. It looked like they were leaving the military and heading to the U.S. I have also found information for an arrival in Pembroke, Quebec Canada. That person entered England at Harwich, left through Liverpool and arrived in Quebec. I have not been able to trace back any further. I desperately asking for help because I would like to find out if anything I have found may be for my Great Grandfather. Thank you
One more thing, I found the passenger list for Quebec said that Vaso was from Bosna. I know there is a small town in Croatia called this but wonder if it was actually Bosnia?
can you attach the ,manifest to your comment or send it?
I was looking into the German settlements elsewhere based on prior information but if this is a verified info we could narrow down the field to that region.
