I am a grandson of Milan Alexander Haber who was born in Zemun, in 1922. I am searching for any records of him and his family. I believe his brother Irvin may still be living in Zemun, he had sisters Anna and Karolina who lived in Zemun all their lives. Milan immigrated to Australia following WW2.

From my current research, I understand that the old census records for Zemun are not held in other countries and could possibly be in Zemun/Belgrade. I see references on Wiki that Census Records exist for Croatia Sclavonia for 1890,1900,1910. I have contacted the Croatian statistics branch and archives and they do not have these records for the Zemun town. Can you please advise if these records are held in Zemun/Belgrade and how to research them?

The family names are as follows (spelling could be different):- Johan/Joannes Haber (father, Swabian, German from the black forest region (Baden Wurttemberg?), Anna Haber (mother maiden name Martin or maybe Marten or other variant - of possibly Serb/German decent), Ferdinand Haber - son (eldest son), Johan Ivan Haber (son)born about 1896 or Ivan Johan Haber and married Vilma Sorola born 1900, Edi/Edward/Edvin Haber - son, Anna Haber - daughter, Katharina/Catherina Haber born 1879 or 1890 - daughter married Stanley Stanovich and moved to the USA in 1922. I think Katharina may have been the eldest daughter born around 1890-2, as she is listed as 32 in 1922 or perhaps 42 (I think they lied about their age, as she looks early 20's in a photo I have from my grandfather marked 1900).

I have no information on Vilma Sorola born 1900 - wife of Johan Ivan Haber and would like to research her line also.

Your assistance with the above research and any information pertaining to the above family would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Adam
