New Armorial Achievements of Mladenovac
Belgrade borough of Mladenovac intended for quite some time to adopt new and adequate armorial achievements, being quite unhappy with the inherited pseudo-heraldic emblem granted in the 1970-ies, a spiritual child of an fruitless attempt of the moribund Communist ideology and strivings.
However, process of coming to acceptable terms regarding the content of future coat of arms took a long time. Generally, it was agreed that the main content should stress the person and life of Medieval Serbian Despot Stephen, son and heir of the martyred Prince Lazarus. Reason for that was the fact that Despot met with own end in the territory of the Borough.
Some heraldic ideas were tried, mainly based upon a reconstruction of Despot’s arms, done by Dr. Aleksandar Palavestra, in his capacity of the Member of Draconis Victi Militia, a chivalric Society founded by Hingarian King (later Roman Emperor Sigismund).
Finally, talks and arguments came to end when Father Alexey von Biron intervened. With his influence, his charm and dept of his knowledge, authorities in Mladenovac were finally happy, and the content was approved. Final artistic presentation was done by the author of this survey, and Mladenovac became a model place regarding the attachement and precision with which the armorial achievement and Banner are protected and used.
In short, two golden jugs remind of waters of two Spas, while the silver bar stand for the river Lug. The black anvil reminds of the origin of the borough, which one was a smuthery, and gold threeleaved sprig of an oak of the spiritual holiday, which is Descent of the Holy Ghost. The horse without rider is that of the Despot, and wounded deer recalls that Despot was hunting when he met his death. Bow case with spilt arrows alludes to the dismemberment of the Serbian State after his untimly death. Mountainous compartment points to the Mount Kosmaj which dominates the territory.
